British Literature Class Notes -- Week 7 (March 9)

Greetings!

We had a great class this week with lots of discussion and insights.  Now that we are about halfway through Great Expectations, we have a greater grasp of the plot, characters, and Dickens's writing style.

I did something a little different this week.  Instead of going through the discussion questions, we concentrated on the characters.  I listed the primary characters on the board, and students made lists of characteristics for each one.  As we worked our way through each of the lists, we incorporated elements of plot development and recurring themes.

It was interesting to hear how students not only had similar ideas but unique viewpoints.  I love discussing these great books in a group because I always learn so much!  Below is a picture of the board showing a visual representation of our discussion.

Save this week's discussion questions -- we'll use them next week.

Assignments for Next Week:
-- Read p. 191 - 286
-- 3 Discussion Questions
